Nassau Leg. Solages Makes Bid For Congress
Rep. Kathleen Rice is not running for re-election in the 4th District.
LAWRENCE, NY — Nassau County Legislator Carrie Solages (D-Lawrence) is the latest politician to run for Congress from the 4th district.
Solages announced on Twitter his intentions to seek the seat currently held by Rep. Kathleen Rice, who chose not to campaign for a fifth term.
Solages joins State Senator Siela Bynoe (D-Westbury) and former Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen, who previously declared their candidacy.

The county lawmaker, who represents the Five Towns and Elmont, said in a statement, he is running "to represent our values and to address issues like public safety, property taxes and help small businesses."
Solages is in his fourth term serving in the Nassau County Legislature.

"Our country desperately needs strong political leaders who can produce results like me," Solages said.
New York's Democratic primary is on June 28.
