  1. The Democratic leader of the Nassau County Legislature criticized county Health Commissioner Lawrence Eisenstein for defying state health laws and supporting what he called the "anti-mask regime" of County Executive Bruce Blakeman. Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams sent Eisenstein a letter this week outlining his concerns. (Subscription: Newsday)
  2. COVID-19 contact tracing will no longer be mandated by the state, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday. The high numbers of those infected with omicron make it unfeasible. (Subscription: Newsday)
  3. A Uniondale company won a $20 million government contract to help develop a new clock for the Navy. Frequency Electronics, Inc., got the $20.2 million contract from the Office of Naval Research to develop a mercury ion atomic clock. (Patch)
