Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:
- Nassau County officials will add a traffic light in Woodmere at Peninsula Boulevard and Edward Avenue. The intersections sees a lot of pedestrian foot traffic and heavy truck traffic. (Subscription:Newsday)
- A Bloods gang member from Hempstead was convicted of assault and weapon charges for a 2020 shooting. Trevor Ford, 30, was convicted of two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm, and faces up to 22 years in prison. (Patch)
- Hewlett High School junior Anthony Ginzburg made a world record attempt to recite over 3,000 digits of the number pi on Wednesday. He hopes to crack the top 50 ever. (Patch)

- Former Islanders defenseman Jean Potvin died this week at age 72. Born in Ottawa, Potvin played 402 games with the Islanders from 1973 to 1981. (Lighthouse Hockey)
