  1. A 20-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on Monday night in Oceanside on Oceanside Road near Lindbergh Avenue. He is in critical condition at an area hospital with multiple trauma injuries. (Patch)
  2. A Long Beach eighth grader's life story is inspiring many: Dunia Sibomana won the 102-pound Division I Championship title in Albany on Feb. 13, eight years after narrowly surviving a wild chimpanzee attack in Africa. (Patch)
  3. The Nassau legislature confirmed two top Blakeman appointees. John Capece, a former Nassau Police Chief of Detectives, was appointed to the $120,000-a-year job of Consumer Affairs Commissioner even though six Democrats opposed his appointment.
