  1. Nassau County Police Department's recent release of data shows racial disparities in pat-down and arrest rates, one analysis claims. Gothamist and WSHU analyzed data and found that Black people were searched at 33 percent of stops while white people were searched 23 percent of the time, both county residents and nonresidents. (Gothamist)
  2. Hildebrandt's ice cream parlor has been in Williston Park for almost a century and its owners are looking for landmark status to stay open. A new landlord is raising the rent to around $6,700 a month, which the business can't afford. (News 12)
  3. Philips International Holding Corp., a Great Neck real estate company will turn the former headquarters of the Diocese of Rockville Centre into 60,000 square feet of office space. The project will cost $19 million and doesn't yet have tenants. (Subscription: Newsday)

  • Pagemasters, a weekly reading and social program for challenged adults which meets at Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library, unveiled a 30-pound wooden sculpture to commemorate the last six years at the Cultural Program Specialist’s office in the library. (LI Herald)
