- On Tuesday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized a second booster dose of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for people older than 50 and those who are immunocompromised. New York State Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday urged those eligible to get boosted. (Patch)
- Town of Hempstead Councilman Anthony D'Esposito is running to replace Kathleen Rice in the House. The retired NYPD detective from Island Park said he believes the district will go blue. (Patch)
- On Saturday, the New York Riptide lacrosse team will host a Cystic Fibrosis Night at Nassau Coliseum for its National Lacrosse League game against Philadelphia. The proceeds will benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation, the NFL player's foundation inspired by his son who has cystic fibrosis. (Subscription: Newsday)
