Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:
- A Suffolk County man was arrested on Jan. 14 for driving a stolen car a day after he was released without bail for a previous offense. The driver failed to signal in Garden City and responding officers found the car had been reported stolen and Nelson Priester, 35, of Middle Island, was arrested. (Patch)
- On Jan. 18, police arrested Jeustin David Maldonado, 22, of Uniondale, in connection with the gang-related killing of 19-year-old Osmin Campos-Sandoval, 19, of Hempstead, found in the woods near the Uniondale Water Tower on Oct. 6, 2020. (Patch)
- The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was on Long Island almost 60 years ago, campaigning against segregation in Malverne and Lakeview schools in 1965. The divided community had been opposing the desegregation orders in court for two years. (Subscription: Newsday)
