  1. Three men were charged after police say they robbed a 7-Eleven at gunpoint on Dec. 31: Oscar Marcia, 27, of Levittown; Jose Antonis, 33, of Hempstead; and Victor Almandades-Zavala, 28, of Hempstead. They are accused of robbing the BP gas station at 1878 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow with a handgun. (Patch)
  2. This Friday may be Long Island's first real snowfall of the season. The region could see two to five inches by midday. (Patch)
  3. A Hicksville woman was one of many trapped for hours in Virginia after a snowstorm. While many were stuck on the interstate in cars, Claire Czeczil, 64, spent 24 hours on an Amtrak train. (Subscription: Newsday)
