From my notebook:

  • Nassau County's warming centers will be at the following locations: Cantiague Park Administration Office, 480 W John St., Hicksville; Wantagh Administration Building, 1 King Road, Wantagh; Mitchel Field Administration Building, 1 Charles Lindbergh Blvd., Uniondale.
  • Nassau County Police Department reminds residents that as temperatures are expected to drop, not to leave cars running with the keys in the ignition. Recent car thefts have happened that way recently on LI. (Facebook)
  • Long Beach High School is the only Long Island school to have a school surfing team. The team competes against New Jersey districts and is hoping more LI schools add surfing as a school sport. (Patch)
