Charmaine Norville faces charges that include assault and reckless endangerment, police said.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — Police attempted to stop a woman who was driving in Valley Stream on Thursday with an expired New York state inspection sticker, a missing front license plate and an unregistered rear plate, authorities said.

Charmaine Norville, 47, of New Jersey, failed to provide her license and registration to officers, police said. Norville then drove away with driver's side door still open, police said.

As a result, an officer was dragged by the car causing him to sustain multiple injuries. Norville fled the scene at a high rate of speed, committing multiple traffic violations and nearly struck a pedestrian before stopping the vehicle in front of 750 Sunrise Highway, authorities said.
