Conor McGregor Arrested After Barclays Center Ruckus: NYPD

The MMA fighter turned himself into the NYPD after he threw a hand truck at the window of the bus in the Barclays Center, police said.

FORT GREENE, NY — MMA fighter Conor McGregor was arrested Thursday night after he tossed a hand truck into a bus window at the Barclays Center, officials said.

The 29-year-old Irish fighter turned himself into the 78 Precinct at about 9:30 p.m. hours after the ruckus at the stadium and was charged with assault and criminal mischief, police said.

McGregor stormed into Barclays at about 1:35 p.m. with a large group after a press conference promoting UFC's upcoming fight there on Saturday a day after he was stripped of his lightweight championship belt, according to the NYPD and the New York Post.

He got into an argument with brawlers scheduled to fight on Saturday inside the stadium's loading dock when he started to grab objects to toss at the bus, video of the incident shows.

McGregor eventually hurled a hand truck through the bus window and injured one person inside, police said. He then jumped into an SUV and fled, the Post reported.

Fighter Michael Chiesa was taken to the hospital for cuts to the face and was deemed unfit to fight in Saturday's competition because of them, ESPN reported. Ray Borg and Brandon Moreno also had their matches canceled because of injuries during the scuffle, according to ESPN.

McGregor eventually turned himself into the NYPD along with a member of his entourage, Cian Cowley, 25, who was also charged with assault and criminal mischief, police said.
