Putnam's Pub & Cooker Raises Over $3,400 After Fire

"Please give what you can - every amount helps. Maybe what you would normally spend on a pint or some fries."

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — Putnam's Pub & Cooker, a beloved neighborhood bar and restaurant in Fort Greene, suffered a massive fire on Valentine's Day that shut the place down. In the aftermath, community members are helping the restaurant staff by donating money they will lose while the restaurant is rebuilding. The goal for the GoFundMe, explicitly for restaurant staff to remake their tips and wages that they lost to the fire, was $3,000. In a matter of just one week, they made over $3,400.

"We would like to raise some money to help the staff with their incidentals while work is being done. They have all always been so kind, generous and accommodating to their neighbors who frequently visit them for a drink or something to eat. We would like to return the hospitality," the organizers wrote.
