3rd Prize Powerball Ticket Worth $100K Bought In Freeport

FREEPORT, NY — While there were no winners of the ballooning Powerball jackpot on Wednesday night, one third-place ticket was purchased in Freeport.

The $100,000 Powerplay prize-winning ticket was sold at Gala Foods Supermarket on West Merrick Road, the New York State Lottery Commission said.

As for the grand prize, Saturday's drawing is now estimated $1.7 billion with the cash value at $770 million. It stands as the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history, only behind the world record $2.04 billion Powerball in 2022 and a $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2023, the Multi State Lottery Association said.

Both winners came from California.
