The power of dogs to heal those facing the traumas confronting many veterans will gain a helping hand when America’s Vetdogs and Veolia Water team up to raise dollars to strengthen these therapy programs through the United Veterans Network Fundraiser on Thursday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall, 3232 Railroad Ave., Wantagh where they will be joined by VetDog Kenzo and his human buddy, Nathan Gardner of Holtsville.

“We are proud to help support America's VetDogs and veterans like Nathan. It is an honor to support such an important organization, and to be able to help improve the lives of those who have served," said Kevin Chandler, President of Veolia Water Long Island, whose company maintains and operates Nassau County’s waste water treatment facilities.

Proceeds will support Vetdogs in their mission to pair veterans with service dogs, providing aid and motivation to tackle everyday challenges. Serving veterans of all eras and first responders, VetDogs was founded to restore independence to veterans across the country.

America’s VetDogs has placed hundreds of assistance dogs with disabled veterans, showcasing their important work through stories like that of veteran Nathan Gardner from Holtsville. After five years in the Air Force, Nathan learned of America’s Vetdogs through the veterans resource center at Suffolk Community College. After training with service dog Kenzo, which Nathan says was life-changing, “Kenzo has taught me how to handle myself and my disability appropriately. I like the mindset of who I'm going to be coming out of this.”

Together, Veolia and America’s VetDogs seek to have a significant positive impact on the veterans’ community across the bi-county region. “Through their innovative programs, America’s VetDogs has consistently touched the lives of countless veterans. Our company proudly stands with them and all those seeking to improve the quality of life of those who have worn the uniform,” said Chandler.
