Driver Still At Large After Saturday Crash Hospitalizes 76-Year-Old: Police

The man was in critical condition after the crash, police say.

FREEPORT, NY. — A 76-year-old man remains in critical condition after a Saturday afternoon hit-and-run in Freeport — and the driver of the car that hit him is still unaccounted for, police said.

Nassau County police say the man was crossing North Grove Street at the intersection with Brooklyn Avenue just before 2 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a light colored sedan. The driver fled the scene; the 76-year-old was hospitalized, police said.

Police said an investigation into the crash is ongoing; anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
