Female Pedestrian Dies In Nassau Crash: Police
She was trying to cross a street in Freeport, police say.
FREEPORT, NY — A female pedestrian was killed in a Freeport crash Wednesday night, police said.
According to the Nassau County police, the homicide squad is investigating the crash, which took place on Wednesday at 6:58 p.m.
While attempting to cross Merrick Road in the vicinity of Henry Street, from the north side to the south side, a female pedestrian was struck by a 2008 Volkswagen traveling east on Merrick Road, detectives said.

The woman, 51, suffered trauma to her head and body; she was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead at 7:33 p.m. by a hospital physician, police said.
The male driver, 62, remained at the scene; no charges were filed, police said.
