Freeport HS Gets All Clear Following Anonymous Threat: School District
Freeport and Nassau police conducted a sweep of the school on Friday morning, the Freeport School District said.

FREEPORT, NY — Freeport High School students and staff returned to the classrooms after an anonymous threat on Friday morning, a spokesperson for the school district said.
The school was evacuated as the Freeport and Nassau County police did a sweep of the building, the district said.
After thoroughly checking the building, police determined that the threat was not credible, the district said.

Nassau County police and Freeport police are continuing to investigate. "Unfortunately, incidents of false threats against schools have been on the rise both locally and nationwide, causing unnecessary fear and frustration for families and school districts alike," a spokesperson for the district said.
The district said extra safety measures were being taken on Friday out of an abundance of caution.

Additionally, the school district encourage families "to speak with their children about the importance of 'if you see something, say something' and notifying the school district of any threats or concerning behavior."
