FREEPORT, NY — New York Jets legend, and favorite son of Freeport, D'brickashaw Ferguson, got inducted into the team's Ring of Honor on Sunday.

Back in 2009, Freeport renamed South Ocean Avenue for Ferguson, who grew up in the village.

Ferguson, who was named for the lead character from "The Thorn Birds," played and started his entire NFL career with the Jets as a left tackle. He retired after the 2015 season. He joins former teammates Nick Mangold (enshired in Sept.) and Darrelle Revis (later this month) at the Ring of Honor surrounding MetLife Stadium.

"And so being inducted in the same year with them is very humbling to me. I think it's sometimes hard to see yourself from a different perspective. To kind of see myself as being celebrated is a very humbling place," Ferguson said.

Ferguson was football standout at Freeport High School.
