Renowned Leader Phil Andrews Endorses Siela Bynoe for State Senate

Phil Andrews, known for his advocacy for the African American small business community, praised Bynoe's effective public service

The Siela Bynoe for Senate campaign announced today that Phil Andrews, president of New York State’s largest African American Business organization and founder of an organization to support small business owners, has endorsed her campaign.

“I fully support Siela’s campaign for her proven dedication to small and minority-owned businesses,” Andrews said. “Her initiatives in promoting economic growth and advocating for these businesses are vital for community empowerment and align perfectly with our objectives. I am confident in her ability to drive impactful change.”

Phil Andrews is renowned for his long standing advocacy and support for the African American small business sector. As the current president of a leading business organization, he plays a crucial role in promoting business growth. Through his initiatives in multiple organizations, Andrews has been instrumental in providing vital resources like financial literacy education, entrepreneurial training and easier access to capital for businesses. His leadership extends to his previous tenure as a two-term president of a prominent men’s group further underscores his commitment to community development. He has worked closely with Siela Bynoe in the areas of advocating for MWBE certification and utilization, veteran-owned and disadvantaged businesses to promote equity in underserved communities.

His endorsement adds to the growing list of notable supporters for Bynoe’s campaign, following recent nods from community leaders and organizations, including Assemblyman Chuck Lavine, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé and former Nassau County Legislator Laura Curran.

Having served five terms as a Nassau County Legislator, Siela Bynoe is widely recognized for her meticulous and responsive approach to lawmaking, always aligning closely with the needs of her constituents. Her skill in fostering bipartisan agreements has been pivotal in launching and advancing key initiatives. These include environmental protection measures, initiatives to ensure the safety of drinking water from harmful contaminants, the rehabilitation of dilapidated 'zombie homes', tackling mental and behavioral health issues, and introducing public safety reforms, notably the adoption of body cameras for all county police officers.
