Reworld™ Employees Unite for Marsh Cleanup with Operation SPLASH

Reworld™ employees recently joined forces with Operation SPLASH to clean up the waterfront of the Nautical Mile in Freeport

Reworld™ employees recently joined forces with Operation SPLASH to clean up the waterfront of the Nautical Mile in Freeport. As part of the activity, the dedicated teams from Reworld™ and Operation SPLASH helped remove marine debris from Long Island’s South Shore waterways. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts from Reworld™ to invest in communities throughout Long Island and empower habitats.

"Today, through our collective effort and dedication, we've transformed a once littered marsh into a sanctuary for wildlife and reflection,” said Rob Weltner, the President of Operation SPLASH. “Our success is not just in what we have cleaned, but in the spirit of community and conservation we've cultivated along the way. With every cleanup, we are not just preserving marshes; we are safeguarding our planet, ensuring cleaner waters, healthier habitats, and a brighter future for our oceans and all who depend on them.”

This initiative underscores the vital role of community engagement in achieving environmental goals. As a community champion, Reworld™ remains committed to actively participating in initiatives that promote environmental sustainability.

Operation SPLASH (Stop Polluting, Littering, and Save Harbors) is based out of Freeport and has been devoted to cleaning up local waterways since 1990, removing over three million pounds of trash. Their partnership with Reworld™ highlights the crucial link between community-driven environmental actions and greater sustainability goals. The marsh cleanup was thanks to the almost 10-year sponsorship of Reworld™ by Operation SPLASH. This sponsorship allows marsh cleanups to happen more regularly throughout the summer season. Operation SPLASH marsh cleanups directly impact the goals of Reworld™ helping to reduce the risks of harmful materials in bodies of water and renew these materials into usable energy for the environment.

"Our mission is to reimagine the waste we all create; it's about building a sustainable future for everyone," said Maureen Early, Lead Community Relations Specialist at Reworld™. "Educating the community on the impact of their actions and the integral part our services hold on Long Island is essential in fostering a collective effort towards a cleaner planet."
