Small Business Week Celebrated In New York State On LI In Garden City

Long Island, New York – New York State’s largest African American Chamber of Commerce the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. hosted their Inaugural Small Business Week event in Nassau County at the Ethical Humanist Society located in Garden City, New York.

Once again, the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce has launched an innovative event which will annually provide the tools to small businesses in the region to scale up their enterprises.

Small Business Week acknowledges the contributions of small businesses in Villages, Counties, Towns and States throughout America. It is a time across America where the contributions of small business owners are celebrated by highlighting their achievements.

It is also a time where regional chambers of commerce such as the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. host regional events such as its recent event on May 10th, 2025 in Garden City, New York. The event was an exciting day of learning and networking.

Attendees at Small Business Week

The event provided and opportunity for small business owners to take a look at their operations, and learn how to scale the businesses to the next level. The experts shared valuable insights on scaling up their businesses, increasing efficiency, and maximizing their growth potential.

The event also included a panel moderated by the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. Chair of Membership Deon Brown. The panel Chevon Pottinger, C Square Accounting & Business Services, Andre Garvin, The Tarmac Group a business consulting firm. The panel discussed the importance of sound accounting practices for small business owners and the value of a business consulting firm for all of the stages of growth for your business.

For more than 60 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week (NSBW), which acknowledges the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. National Small Business Week 2025 takes place annually during the month of May, recognizing small businesses for their hard work, ingenuity, and dedication, including their contributions to the economy.

In addition of to Small Business Week the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. has presented Minority Enterprise Development Month annually since 2021.

Minority Enterprise Development Month is about leveraging a network of businesses through information, growing their customer base, entering new markets, accessing capital, and contracting opportunities.

This year’s Minority Enterprise Development Month 1st day of activities will be held on Thursday, October 9th, 2025 at the Town of Hempstead Pavilion located at One Washington Street, Hempstead, New York 11550 and will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm.

All activities during the 2025 calendar will be a part of our chamber’s 15th year-long celebration commemorating and highlighting the work that we have embarked upon at the chamber.
