Woman Picked Up By ICE After Being Accused Of Prostitution: Police

One of the women was in the country illegally and was turned over to ICE agents, police say.

FREEPORT, NY — Two women were arrested after it was determined that they were engaged in prostitution at a Freeport location, police said.

An undercover investigation was conducted on Thursday afternoon at the South Ocean Avenue address, police said. Yorgelis Riveros-Sanchez, 29, of Pennsylvania, and Yennyfer Curieux-Merida, 35, of Queens, were placed under arrest without incident, police said.

Curieux-Merida was charged with unauthorized practice of a profession and prostitution, police said. Riveros-Sanchez was charged with prostitution, authorities said.

Both women were released on appearance tickets returnable on October 15 to First
District Court in Hempstead.

Further investigation revealed that Riveros-Sanchez was in the United States illegally and was subject to removal proceedings; U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents took custody of her, police said.
