2 Men Impersonate Nassau County Employee To Purchase $44K In Computers: Police

They were located in Garden City, where the men were placed into custody, police said.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Two men were arrested after impersonating a Nassau County employee in an attempt to make a fraudulent purchase, police said.

Manny Alvarez Marriaga, 24, and Kevin Alvarez, 25, both of Queens, used a fraudulent account in an attempt to place a purchase order for 22 Hewlett Packard notebooks, valued at nearly $44,000, from Ray Block, a Nassau County vendor for office supplies, authorities said.

An investigation led to the men being located in Garden City and placed into custody.

Alvarez Marriaga and Alvarez are both charged with third-degree attempted grand larceny and fifth-degree conspiracy, police said.

They were scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
