The Newsweek ranking is based on an online survey amongst U.S. residents who have used online learning service offers to obtain an academic degree or knowledge and skills for their job or hobbies, the publication states.

Newsweek states that Statista surveyed more than 10,000 individuals from Jun. 6 to Jun. 30, 2025, in order to gather the rankings. More information on how they rank institutions can be found online.
