Adelphi University Receives $54K Grant From Aging In America
This grant will help support the University's gerontology education program.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Adelphi University's College of Nursing and Public Health has recently received a $54,000 grant from Aging in America Inc. to support the university's gerontology education program.
The funding will help students gain more resources and skills throughout their education as they learn how to address healthcare needs in the geriatric field, officials said.
The College of Nursing and Public Health provides students with simulation-based learning scenarios and resources to allow students to be successful in their careers.

The university said the grant can help encourage more graduates to pursue careers in aging services.
"Older adults often present with complex health conditions, multiple medications, and unique psychosocial needs that require specialized knowledge and skills," Director of Adelphi's Clinical Education and Simulation Lab Anthony Egan said. "By including geriatric scenarios and simulation mannequins that realistically portray older adults, students can practice assessing, communicating with, and caring for elderly patients in a safe and controlled environment."

Aging in America is a New York-based, non-profit organization dedicated to assisting individuals, families, and caregivers to help older adults live, work, and stay active in their communities. The grant will help upgrade Adelphi's simulation lab equipment, as well as enhance faculty training, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
