The village has opted to allow the MTA to remove the building, but doesn't want a new structure erected at the station.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Riders on the LIRR out of Garden City are going to have to find new shelter. The Village of Garden City has opted to have the Country Life Press Station building removed, and it won't be replaced.
After a discussion by trustees and input from residents, the board decided at its Dec. 15 meeting to not join the MTA in the project to change the dilapidated building. Instead, the village will allow the MTA to remove the building, but will not ask the authority to replace it.
The village has asked the MTA to demolish the building, and to work with it on any proposed work to be done at the station.
