GARDEN CITY, NY — The Village of Garden City has replaced the walkway leading to the gazebo on the Village Green, and also made it more accessible.

Village crews removed the old walkway and replaced it with brick that matches the ones used at the nearby fire department monument. The walkway was also specifically placed away from trees to stop the bricks from being lifted by roots.

The curb cut from the parking field was repositioned to align with the new walkway. The walkway also rises up to meet the concrete ramp at the gazebo, which eliminates the step that was originally there, and was an impediment to some people being able to get up to the gazebo.

The project is not done, though. The village will be adding new landscaping in the spring, as well as a new fence along the northern edge of the planting area.
