GC Emergency Services Responded To Thousands Of Calls In 2022
The village released statistics showing how busy the local first responders were last year.
GARDEN CITY, NY — First responders in Garden City received thousands of calls for help last year, data from the village shows.
Mayor Cosmo Veneziale released showing how many calls the village's fire and police departments responded to in 2022.
The fire department responded to 1,184 alarms last year, the village said. More than half were automatic alarms where the alarm was set off unintentionally or due to malfunction. The village fire department responded to 150 alarms at Adelphi University, of which 141 were automatic alarms.

They also responded to:
- Mutual aid responses: 46
- Mutual aid response to working fire: 22
- Motor vehicle accident with overturn: 10
- Motor vehicle accident with occupants trapped: 6
- Working fires: 5
- Working car fires: 5
The Garden City Police Department responded to even more calls. The police department received 19,977 service calls last year. They included:

Additionally, village police issued tens of thousands of tickets last year. There were 20,453 parking tickets, 11,203 traffic tickets and 90 quality of life appearance tickets issued.
