Man In Critical Condition After Being Hit By School Bus

The only person on the bus was the 80-year-old driver, police said.

HEMSPTEAD, NY — A man is in critical condition after being hit by a school bus early Monday morning in Hempstead.

A 24-year-old man was walking south on Front Street, near the intersection of North Franklin Street, just before 6:40 a.m. when he was hit by the bus, which was heading east on Front Street, police said.

The man sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he is in critical condition.

The driver of the school bus, an 80-year-old man, remained at the scene. There were no children on the bus at the time.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
