Man Hit Officer With Car While Fleeing: Nassau Police
Police said the man purposefully hit the officer, and later drove head-first into a patrol car.

GARDEN CITY PARK, NY — A Queens man was arrested last week after police said he hit an officer with his car while trying to flee.
According to police, officers responded to a call at Jericho Turnpike and Sixth Avenue at 8:12 a.m. on Dec. 30 for a disturbance. When the officers arrived, police said they found Aasif Rasul, 22, of Queens, sitting in a 2007 Jeep Liberty. As the officers approached the car on foot, police say Rasul accelerated and hit one of the officers, then fled.
Officers searched the area and found Rasul a mile and a half away at Stewart Avenue and Lincoln Street. Police said Rasul drove head-on into a police car, after which officers were able to pull him out of his car and place him under arrest.

Two officers and Rasul were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
After his arrest, police said an investigation found that Rasul was having an argument with a 25-year-old woman in his car, and was stopping her from leaving. She was eventually able to get out of his car without any injuries.
