Man Starts Fire At Uniondale Laundromat: Police
Curtis Desir was arrested, and he faces charges of second-degree arson and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, police say.
UNIONDALE, NY — A man was arrested over the weekend after starting a fire at a Uniondale store, police said.
On Saturday afternoon, officers responded to the Prendi Laundromat on Front Street, police said.
An investigation determined that a man set a poster on fire near the front door, then blocked the entrance, police said.

A female victim, 53, extinguished the fire and called police.
The man fled the scene on foot, police said. A short time later, officers located Curtis Desir, 31, of Brooklyn, and placed him into police custody without incident, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.
Desir is charged with second-degree arson and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, police said. He was scheduled for arraignment on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
