Police ID Nassau Man Killed After Being Hit By Two Cars

Police say he was crossing a street when he was hit by the first car, which knocked him in front of the second.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County police have identified the man who was killed in Hempstead on June 7 after being hit by two cars.

According to Nassau County police, 36-year-old Rene Antonio Iraheta Ramos, of Hempstead, was crossing Peninsula Boulevard, near the intersection of President Street, at 4:35 a.m. when he was hit by a 2003 Honda Civic being driven by a 47-year-old man.

Ramos was knocked into the other lane of traffic, where he was then hit by a 2018 Dodge van driven by a 54-year-old man.

Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

Police say the drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
