GARDEN CITY, NY — The Village of Garden City is installing a new traffic light at an intersection that has been the sight of numerous crashes over the years.

The Nassau County Department of Public Works will be installing the light at the intersection of Fourth Street and Cathedral Avenue. There is still minor work that needs to be done before the light is working, the village said.

According to the village, the intersection has been the site of many serious accidents, the most recent of which happened in late November. From 2017 through 2019, there were 163 accidents reported on Cathedral Avenue, more than half of which injured people.
