GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents in the village for the week ending Dec. 27.
Dec. 21
- Officers investigated a report of a man stealing multiple items from CVS Pharmacy.
- A driver on 7th Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and making an illegal U-turn.
- Firefighters and police responded to a residence for a report of a fire and determined the cause to be an electrical outlet issue.
- Detectives arrested a 37-year-old driver for leaving the scene of an accident in Parking Field 9E on Dec. 13.

- Property was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Whitehall Boulevard.
- Officers responded to Birch Lane for a suspicious beeping noise and determined the cause to be a discarded smoke alarm in a garbage can.
- Police are investigating a report of unauthorized transactions made against a victim’s digital wallet.
- Firefighters and police responded to a residence for a fire call. Firefighters determined the cause to be a microwave oven issue.
Dec. 23
- As a result of inclement weather and strong winds, officers and firefighters responded to multiple reports of wires down, fallen tree limbs, fire calls, malfunctioning railroad gates and alarms.
- Police assisted firefighters, who responded to Edgemere Road and extinguished a car fire.
- Firefighters and police responded to a residence for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be burnt food.
- A driver on Old Country Road was charged with driving in violation of license restrictions and passing a red traffic light.
- A driver on Clinton Road and Pine Street was charged with driving in violation of license restrictions and false license plates.

- A Franklin Avenue storefront door window was damaged by strong winds.
- Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on County Seat Drive.
- Firefighters and police responded to 3rd Street for an electrical fire inside a manhole. Firefighters rendered the area safe until the arrival of PSEG.
- A driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation, excessive speed, and unsafe lane usage.
Dec. 25
- Firefighters and police responded to Adelphi University for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be a broken water pipe.
- A glass door to a Franklin Avenue business was blown open and damaged by strong winds.
- Firefighters and police responded to a Golf Club Lane building for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be a broken water pipe.
Dec. 26
- A vehicle was reported stolen from a Brook Street driveway. Upon investigation, officers recovered the car in Brooklyn.
- A victim’s identity was stolen and used to open an unauthorized credit card account.
- Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on St. Paul’s Place.
- A driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with excessive speed and false license plates.
Dec. 27
- Officers responded to the Garden City Library where a 24-year-old woman assaulted a security guard after being advised the library was closing. The woman repeatedly punched the 26-year-old female guard and threw her onto a table. The guard suffered facial, nose and head injuries. The woman fled the scene; officers located and arrested the subject on Franklin Avenue.
- A victim was warming up his vehicle on Railroad Avenue when someone entered the car and fled the scene.
- A power outage was reported in the vicinity of Clinton Road and Stewart Avenue.
- Officers responded to a report of water emanating from a residence and determined the cause to be a burst water line.
- Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction at the intersection of Cherry Valley Avenue at Stewart Avenue.
- Checks placed in an Old Country Road FedEx drop-off box were reportedly stolen, altered, and cashed.
- A driver on 1st Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and passing a red traffic light.
- Officers responded to a vacant residence for water emanating from the home due to burst water pipes. The water department turned off the home’s water supply.
