Drunken Driver Arrested In Front Of Glen Cove PD: Police

The man stopped his work truck in a "no stopping zone" in front of the police department on Tuesday morning, police say.

A man was arrested for DWI after he stopped his work truck in a "no stopping zone" in front of the Glen Cove Police Department on Tuesday morning, police say.

According to authorities, 50-year-old Glen Cove resident Fernando Arriaga illegally stopped his Ford F350 work truck in a zone set aside for the local bus stop, which is located in front of the police department on Bridge Street, at 8:23 a.m.

Officers discovered Arriaga was slouched over the wheel of the truck, police say. His blood alcohol content later tested three times over the legal limit, police say.

"Obviously this defendant made some bad decisions, thankfully he was quickly arrested before he was able to get back onto the roadway in our community," Det. Lt. John Nagle said.

He was charged with aggravated DWI. He will be arraigned in Glen Cove City Court on Tuesday morning.
