Nassau Driver Hits, Injures 8-Year-Old On Bike, Leaves Scene: NCPD

The man, 48, has been charged with two crimes for leaving the scene. The boy suffered minor injuries, police say.

GREENVALE, NY—A Glen Cove man struck and injured a child riding a bicycle in Greenvale on Tuesday and left the scene, Nassau County police say.

The driver, Jose Guzman, 48, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with leaving the scene of an incident with an injury and reckless endangerment. Police say he struck an 8-year-old boy on Maple Avenue Tuesday at 3:25 p.m., after the boy rode his bicycle into the street. Guzman then drove away from the scene, police say.

The boy was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

Police were able to locate Guzman after an investigation and arrested him at his home in Glen Cove. He was released from police custody and will appear in court on Oct. 28.
