Glen Cove First Responders Recognized For Heroic Fire Rescue
These first responders rescued a resident from a Glen Cove house fire on Jan. 15.

First responders from the Glen Cove Fire Department and Police Department were recognized for heroically rescuing a resident from a St. Andrew’s Lane house fire on Monday, Jan. 15.
The City of Glen Cove says the prompt response of GCVFD Captain Peter Solomito Jr. and GCPD officers Matthew Gillespie and Katherine Theodorou ensured the safety of the home’s occupants.
“It is times like these that Glen Cove is fortunate to have our own Glen Cove Police and Volunteer Fire Departments with individuals who put their own lives on the line for the safety of others,” Mayor Tim Tenke said in a press release. “Thank you for your dedication to our community.”

Tenke and the Glen Cove City Council presented Solomito, Gillespie and Theodorou with certificates of recognition.
