Major Improvements Completed at the Glen Cove Golf Course, With Irrigation Upgrades Now Underway

Glen Cove, NY — The City of Glen Cove is pleased to announce significant progress at the Glen Cove Golf Course, with key upgrades completed and the next phase now in motion — all while the course has remained open and active for golfers. Recent work has included the installation of new steel poles and structural reinforcement at the driving range, along with full repairs and repainting to restore both function and appearance. The new clubhouse, now complete and in use, offers improved amenities and a welcoming gathering space for golfers and the community.

The current phase of work is the installation of a new irrigation system by Lawn Sprinklers, Inc., which will improve turf health, enhance playability, and protect the long-term condition of the course. This work is being done carefully and in stages to ensure golfers may continue to play throughout the process.

“We’re proud that the Golf Course has stayed open and active while this work has taken place,” said Spiro Tsirkas, Executive Director, City of Glen Cove Youth Services and Recreation. “These improvements benefit our golfers today and ensure the course remains a beautiful, playable asset for years to come.”

The Glen Cove Golf Course operates as a self-sustaining recreational venue and is an asset that generates revenue for the City. Ongoing maintenance and strategic investment ensure the course remains a strong amenity for residents and an inviting attraction for future homeowners and league play. A well-maintained course encourages use, supports local recreation, and contributes to Glen Cove’s overall community appeal and economic vitality.

“This is a responsible and forward-looking investment,” said Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck. “The Golf Course is not just recreation — it is a City asset that generates revenue. When we care for our assets, they return value. A strong, well-maintained course attracts golfers, supports local activity, and strengthens community appeal. We’re investing for today, and we’re investing for Glen Cove’s future.”

During a recent visit to the course, Mayor Panzenbeck was joined by Spiro Tsirkas, Executive Director, Youth Services and Recreation; Rocco Graziosi, Project Manager; John Grella, Golf Club Manager; and representatives of Lawn Sprinklers, Inc. to review progress and discuss the continued phases of the project. The group reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining the high quality and accessibility of the facility throughout the improvement work.

The irrigation installation will continue through the season with updates provided as work progresses.
