Glen Cove Police Present Award At Annual National Night Out

GLEN COVE, NY — On National Night Out, rescheduled in the city to Aug. 23 due to rain Aug. 6, Mayor Pamela D. Panzenbeck named Person of the Year by the Glen Cove Police Department and PBA.

The award was presented by Chief William Whitton, Deputy Chief Chris Ortiz, and Sergeant Roberto Telese, in recognition of her outstanding contributions and leadership in the community.

Whitton praised Panzenbeck’s relentless dedication, saying, "She’s had her foot on the gas pedal and hasn’t taken it off. She’s truly selfless... Pamela has truly made an impact on our lives, and we thank her for inspiring us all."

In her acceptance, Panzenbeck shared heartfelt words of gratitude.

"From my heart, I thank you, gentlemen, for this honor. I am deeply humbled. It means so much to me because every one of you means the world to me," she said, adding, "I couldn’t do this without Deputy Mayor Donna McNaughton by my side. Together, we've worked tirelessly to strengthen our community."

Highlighting her commitment to supporting the Glen Cove Police Department, Panzenbeck noted, "In my short time as Mayor, we’ve added nine new police officers, and soon we'll welcome our tenth. I’d say — I back the blue! Your commitment to our safety and well-being goes beyond all expectations. I am the Mayor with the greatest Police Department. Thank you all for making me feel so special."

The evening was made even more special with the presence of Panzenbeck’s children and several of her grandchildren. "I am so honored to have so many special people in my life in attendance tonight," she said. "This recognition means the world to me, and I am grateful to be part of such a wonderful community."
