Glen Cove Police Warn Of Internet, Phone Scam
"Ddon't give out personal information online or over the phone unless you are certain of who you are communicating with."

Glen Cove Police are warning resident of a an Apple phone and internet scam that occurred in surrounding communities over the weekend.
According to police, a person claiming to be an Apple representative contacts a resident to tell them their iPhone or iCloud has been hacked. The person then requests payment via prepaid gift cards to have the problem repaired. Once the gift cards are purchased, the scammer will ask for the card numbers. Police say the scammer will oftentimes request more gift cards because the "problem" wasn't fully solved.
Glen Cove Police is warning residents to make sure they don't fall for this scam, or any scam out there.

"Remember don't give out personal information online or over the phone unless you are certain of who you are communicating with," Det. Lt. John Nagle said. "Once you are requested to purchase gift cards for any type of payment you should immediately recognize that you are being scammed."
