Glen Cove Students Raise Funds For Leukemia And Lymphoma Society

Landing School students even got to duct-tape their principal to a wall.

GLEN COVE, NY — Landing School hosted its annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraiser in May, including a special Light the Night event.

This year was especially poignant as the school community united to honor one of their own, Annabelle Martone, who is bravely battling T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, school officials said.

Through their collective efforts, Landing students raised over $4,500 for the cause.

"Annabelle's courage has touched all of our hearts, and our school community has come together in an incredible way to support her and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society," said Principal Jacklyn Burnett.

Annabelle, a former Pre-K student at Landing School, is currently a Kindergartener at Deasy School. Her brother, Oliver, is a fifth-grader at Landing School. The school's dedicated efforts brought the community together in support of Annabelle and the fight against leukemia and lymphoma, school officials said.

Students participated in various activities throughout the month. They brought in change, took part in daily spirit days celebrating Annabelle’s favorite things, enjoyed a dance-a-thon and walk-a-thon, and even had the fun opportunity to participate in "Stuck for a Buck" where they taped Burnett to a wall.

In support, Deasy School assembled on the field June 12 with all students and staff wearing pink. They formed the shape of a heart, and a drone captured footage of a powerful display of solidarity and love for Annabelle.
