Glen Head Centennial Celebrates Birthday With Own Official Day

Local officials celebrated Betty Hamilton Buckhout's 100th birthday by proclaiming March 23, 2022 "Betty Hamilton Buckhout Day​."

GLEN HEAD, NY — A Glen Head resident recently celebrated her 100th birthday, and to honor the major milestone, the Town of Oyster Bay has officially given her a day of her own.

Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilwoman Vicki Walsh celebrated Betty Hamilton Buckhout by proclaiming March 23, 2022 "Betty Hamilton Buckhout Day."

Hamilton Buckhout and her late husband, William, moved to Glen Head in 1951, where they raised their three children. Together, they helped make dreams come true for countless local couples with their work in the wedding business, according to Town officials.

Hamilton Buckhout baked the wedding cakes and her husband worked as the wedding photographer. Today, Hamilton Buckhout has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
