Government Wants Judge To Deny Santos Request To Dismiss Some Charges
The disgraced former congressman was indicted on 23 counts.
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — Former congressman George Santos is seeking to have counts of aggravated identity theft dismissed from his charges in a pre-trial motion.
Breon Peace, US Attorney for the Eastern District, said in a court filing on Friday, "the government respectfully submits that Santos’s Motion should be denied in its entirety."
Peace said Santos' claims are "meritless."

Santos was indicted on 23 charges last year, including conspiracy, wire fraud and falsification of records.
Santos has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
