The Long Island Lutheran boys basketball team on Saturday defeated Christ the King, 51-31, to win the state Federation Class AA championship—the first in the school's history.

The win, which was the Crusaders' first since 2012, is good for a state-leading eight Federation titles.

The Crusaders were led by point guard Andre Curbelo who scored a game-high 23 points, pulling down 11 rebounds and recording five steals. Curbelo was named the tournament MVP.
