LI Marathoner Makes Brookhaven Stop During 7-Day Run For Vets

Each day's marathon for Every Veteran Appreciated Week has honored local servicemen killed in action.

BROOKHAVEN, NY — Long Island marathon runner Eva Casale is running seven marathons in seven days, making stops across the island this week to honor veterans and to help support military service men and women and their families.

Starting on Sunday, her Every Veteran Appreciated Week runs have honored local servicemen killed in action and are linked to the communities they called home. By Saturday, she will have run 184 miles and the team will have visited over 300 Points of Honor and will have laid flowers, cones, wreaths, and flags.

Brookhaven town officials welcomed her and Team EVA on Tuesday.

In addition to Brookhaven Town Hall, Team Eva’s stops include Northport, Long Island National Cemetery, Eisenhower Park, Shelter Island, Sag Harbor, Calverton, Westhampton, Patchogue, Medford, Long Island’s South Shore, Oyster Bay and Bayville.

The team's journey began with an opening ceremony at Huntington Town Hall's Veterans Plaza.

It will end in Casale’s hometown of Glen Cove with a special closing ceremony at the Glen Cove City Hall as she and her team cross the final finish line.
