Glen Cove Football Team Honored at Award Dinner

Glen Cove athletes celebrated the end of the season and awards received.

The Nassau County football team wrapped up the 2015 season with the annual Gridiron Dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club Dec. 9, according to a school press release.

The dinner included a celebration of Glen Cove High School varsity football team’s qualification for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year and advancement to the finals, which made the team the Conference III Big Four Champions.

The student-athletes and award recipients are: County Final Offense MVP Senior Mike Payton; County Final Defense MVP Christian Guevara; All-County athletes Gaetano Famiglietti, senior David Bull and senior Sharayad Letellier; and senior Tim Hogan, who received an All-County honorable mention.

Famiglietti was also honored with the Bill Piner Award, which is presented to the most outstanding linebacker in Nassau County each year.

Also honored were seniors Corey Dinkins and Will Beglin, who were named All-Conference and coach Peter Kopecky was honored for his 100th Career Win.

Coach Steve Tripp was a finalist for the Jack Boyle Award, Assistant Coach of the Year.

The team was also recognized as Conference III Big 4 Champions.
