He challenged them over violence against police and criticized pardons tied to the attack while reflecting publicly on his own experience inside the Capitol that day.
   

• Long Island GOP Reps. LaLota, Garbarino split with party to vote for ACA subsidy extension (newsday.com) — Glen Cove’s own Rep. Tom Suozzi is hailing a House vote to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies as a “huge victory,” saying he’ll work with senators on a bipartisan final bill. The measure passed with support from several Long Island Republicans who broke with party leaders, aiming to keep health insurance premium help flowing while negotiating broader reforms.
   

• NYS bill requiring K-12 education of Jan. 6th attack is reintroduced (el-observador.com) — Glen Cove Assemblymember Charles Lavine is again leading a statewide push to require New York schools to teach about the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, civic values, and the nation’s history with diversity and tolerance. He argues accurate lessons are needed to counter efforts to “whitewash” the event, though the bill still must clear key education committees in Albany.
