'Rash Of Stolen Cars': North Nassau Residents Warned By Village Police
The Old Brookville Police Department joined other North Shore villages in issuing warnings about a recent rise in car thefts.

OLD BROOKVILLE, NY — The recent increase in car thefts from Nassau County continues to be a problem, village police departments warn. On Monday, the Old Brookville Police Department issued a warning to residents that the North Shore of Nassau has seen "a rash of stolen cars and larcenies from autos."
Thieves are targeting late model luxury cars and targeting cars with key fobs inside, police said. They're seeking cars that have retractable mirrors still in driving position, the warning explained, indicating the car's key fob is inside.
Police urged residents to take extra precautions securing their cars, including parking in a garage or in view of camera systems.
