Remembering This Day 11 Years Ago

In the 11 years since the tragedy that changed the country and the world, 9/11 tributes and memorials have taken many forms.

Gardens, fountains, murals and other somber expressions of grief and remembrance have adorned parks, government facilities, school grounds and various other places.

There have been a number of productions televised with the same goal. An award-winning 2002 documentary by French filmmakers was one of the first, and was updated 10 years later.

The feature film "United 93" was released in 2006, giving a Hollywood account of the events on board the one plane that never hit its target.

Each year, first responders and thousands of others gather at Ground Zero to read the names of each victim on national television.
