Tobay's School Taxes Due

Due date was Oct. 1 but bill may be paid without penalty through Nov. 13.

Town of Oyster Bay residents are within the 40-day grace period allowed for paying the first half of school taxes, and can pay without penalty until Nov. 13.

The official due date was Oct. 1.

“After the 40 days, a one percent penalty is added for each month the tax remains unpaid, retroactive to October 1st, ” said James Stefanich, the Town's receiver of taxes. "Tax bills are expected be mailed starting on October 5th, when the collection warrant’s computer-based information is processed, verified and certified as correct by the Receiver’s Office.”

The Town reminded residents to be sure to sign their checks and make them payable to James J. Stefanich, Receiver of Taxes, and to indicate their property’s S.D. code, section, block, lot and phone number on the check.

Payments can be made by cash or check at the Tax Office, Oyster Bay Town Hall West, 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, or by check only at the Receiver of Taxes Office, Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa. The Hicksville Annex in the TOB parking structure, 55 Duffy Avenue, Hicksville, will be open to accept payments by check only from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on November 2, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 13. Residents who prefer to mail in their payments should send them to the Office of the Receiver of Taxes, 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, N.Y. 11771-1539.

“For taxpayers wishing immediate access to 2012-13 school tax information, our online system is available through a link on the Town website, www.oysterbaytown.com. Residents may view current tax bills, print out a hard copy or pay taxes with an ACH check payment or credit card. Please be aware there is a service fee for paying taxes online, which the Town does not collect any portion of,” said a Town statement.

  • The All Car Friendship Meet is Sunday at Marjorie R. Post Community Park in Massapequa.
  • Town Hall is closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day.
